Carol Conti Painting Studio

Wednesdays from 1-3:30pm.

$25 per class or $80 for 4 consecutive classes

This class is designed for beginners and intermediate painters. We will explore various subject matter and techniques through demonstrations

and personal instruction.

With over 40 years as an art educator and artist, Carol has had the privilege to instruct all age groups from elementary to adults. She continually explores new mediums and techniques not only to expand her knowledge as an artist but to pass on the excitement of learning to her students. The landscape is Conti’s inspiration and her travels have taken her on painting trips from the coastal waters of Maine, an

artist residency at Wildacres in the mountains of North Carolina, and to the various small towns in southern France. In 2016, Conti retired from public education to pursue her own interests both as an artist and instructor and moved from central Florida to the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina.

I have always loved the outdoors, especially to paint “en plein air,” as I have found nature to be my best teacher. My landscape paintings are in an impressionistic style, using either watercolors, acrylics, or oils and show a sensitivity to the play of sunlight and the emotional energy I derive from my surroundings. Using palette knife texture is fascinating to me and as well as how shapes of colors juxtaposed can make things “pop”. In my “Mandala Series”, I playfully arrange the shapes and colors of the native fauna and flora to form patterns from a distance but then become a surprise when seen close-up. Every time of day and place is a new experience for me and I hope to convey my joy of discovery to my viewers through my artwork.
